Faults, Problems and Solutions / Any advice with my 1.5d 2006 Scenic plz

Its done 57000 and starts and runs fine apart from an intermittent fault as follows..
It sometimes, say once a day looses power for a couple of seconds or revs up of its own accord for a couple of seconds while travelling along at slowish speed around the village. Any suggestions ? egr valve ?
