Hi.
Nice to see a 'GENUINE' mechanic being able to help.
I've unfortunately got the same fault on my mk1.
I looked on Youtube, and there's a good video showing how to replace the solenoid.
But doesn't show how to check or top up fluid.
So if the garage you used sorted with just a fluid change, that sounds like a plan.

hi guys I've got a 2006 1.6 16v auto and after having it for a week or two it started coming up on the dash saying electrical fault and check gearbox and once you turn engine off and back on car was fine well I done alot of research on this and also had codes read by 3 different garages and each one has told me the same all saying that it's the electrovalve solenoid in the gearbox valve block and it's about a £500 fix. well I had it in at another garage and the guy told me it's the same problem but only he wasn't just after money like the rest he said that the majority of the time it just needs the filter and the automatic transmission fluid changed and an transmission fluid enhancer added into to it. well I got him to do it for me it cost me £90 and I haven't had a problem since. I really hope this could help other owners in future with the same problem. the enhancer that was used is called Lucas oil but you could also use lubeguard platinum and it specialises in unlocking solenoids and keeping your fluid at a lower temperature so it doesn't burn away

Clutch problems fix
Spoke to a dealer who recommended getting the concentric slave cylinder replaced but went to motorworld in cannock and the helpful chap behind the counter said if its nots leaking flush system with new fluid did it took for a test drive clutch is super light, bite is in the right place and no slipping on test drive!

Hi guys at bit of quandary i hope someone can help
if i put my foot down a bit too heavy my 2004 scenic 1.4 the engine tends to rev as if the clutch is slipping but when i chock the wheels and try to pull off in first the cluch is working perfectly as it stalls but i have noticed the "bite" on the clutch pedal is right at the top as you can change gear with just the weight of your foot on the pedal .
Any help or ideas would be gratefully appreciated
Rich
